Dionysian worshipers carry giant phallus across Athens

Hundreds of masked people carried a man-sized phallic figurine through the streets of Plaka old city district of Athens on Saturday, as part of Phallephoria. Phallephoria, a celebration honoring the god Dionysus, the god of fertility and wine, associated with ritual madness in ancient Greek mythology.
